Come out to see the women of Stir Friday Night share stories about racial strife, culture clashes, gender roles, and why it’s okay when we bring egg rolls to your potluck.

Joining them in the time slot are ElyseandNatalie of SisterSister. They will be performing a form they invented based off of a game they invented in the 90’s called Sally. Join them for an exploration of people and relationships in their special brand of wacky, weird, and related!

Join them on Sunday, June 21st at 6pm at Stage 773. Tickets available now!! http://www.chicagowomensfunnyfestival.com/

Stir Friday Night @ 48 Hour Marathon

We had a blast at hour 45 of the 48 Hour Improv Marathon this past weekend at the Playground Theater!

Thanks to Jake and Saurabh for organizing this great event and kudos to the event team for doing improv for 2 days straight.

Proceeds of the show went to the Inspiration Corporation– an organization that helps people who are affected by homelessness and poverty to improve their lives and increase self-sufficiency.

Stir-Friday Night!,  Chicago’s Premier Asian-American Comedy Troupe, Opens Its 18th Annual Sketch Revue

Chicago, IL (October 15, 2013)—Stir-Friday Night! opens its 18th annual sketch comedy revue, “Whitewash, Rinse, Repeat” at Theater Wit (1229 W Belmont Ave.) on Friday, October 18th at 10:30pm. It will run for 4 consecutive Fridays, with the final performance on November 8th. General admission tickets are $10 and can be purchased at https://www.theaterwit.org/tickets/productions/155/performances. Discounted $5 tickets are available to students, seniors, and industry.

Stir-Friday Night! is an 18-year-old comedy ensemble with alumni such as Danny Pudi (NBC’s Community), Steven Yeun (AMC’s The Walking Dead), Mary Sohn (Second City Mainstage), Christine Lin (Broadway’s “Chinglish”), and Rasika Mathur (MTV’s Wild ‘N Out).

“Whitewash, Rinse, Repeat” is directed by Anneliese Toft, who has helmed shows for The Second City’s touring company and served as Assistant to the Director for the Jeff-nominated Second City ETC Review “A Clown Car Named Desire.” Toft also directed the acclaimed premiere of “Tammy: A Coming of Age Story About a Girl Who is Part T-Rex.”

“Our latest revue is a humorous take on a world in which the truth is trampled upon, reality gets rewritten, and people are driven by delusion'” says Stir-Friday Night’s Executive Director, Avery Lee. Sketches, musical numbers, and improv are woven together during the show’s 50-minute running time. “It’s a light-hearted look at our thick-headed world,” adds Lee.

“Whitewash, Rinse, Repeat” is written and performed by Dacey Arashiba, Kannan Arumugam, Gilbert Galon, James Kannookadan, Melissa Kong, Avery Lee, and Christina Seo. The revue’s Musical Director is Tilliski Ramey.
